How a venture firm led by former Focus, Envestnet execs is investing in fintech

A venture capital firm is seeking to connect institutional players in wealth management with upstart technology firms in the space, aided by former Focus Financial Partners executive Amy DeTolla and former Envestnet executive Dani Fava.

Since its founding in 2018, Thicket Ventures has invested in online brokerage platform Robinhood, as well as multiple companies outside the financial services industry including AngelList, customer insights platform Yogi and the transportation company Lime.

Yet founder Justin Wisz, who started the firm as his angel investing vehicle, said he has since transitioned to focus on technology firms that serve wealth managers, citing his own experience and relationships in the industry.
